Rebuilding an illustrious heritage

"The Dale" has an illustrious history, growing into a major centre for the extraction of coal, ironstone, limestone and brick-clay and for the manufacture of steel and brick during the 19th century.

From its position midway between Edinburgh and Glasgow and being strategically placed on primary road and rail networks, industry around Armadale flourished during these times.

With the demise of mining and heavy industry, the prosperity of the Armadale area declined.

The reinstatement of the town's link to the rail network and the provision of 35 hectares of new business space presents Armadale with an exciting opportunity to accelerate the regeneration of the town.
