Sustainable Armadale

Armadale has become a town which covers a large area but has a relatively small town centre. Armadale Cross is remote from the south of Armadale. South Armadale needs a local centre to encourage residents to visit local shops, cafes and restaurants in Armadale rather than elsewhere.

The natural location for the new local centre is at Armadale Station.

This diagram below illustrates 400m and 800m zones for optimum access to community facilities. It also shows that the town centre and local centre complement each other well.

The concentration of business, employment and retail activity in these two locations will ensure the long term viability of both and will maximise the potential for economic growth and regeneration for the town as a whole.
